Join us on Saturday, April 25 to celebrate the art of basketry with fellow basket enthusiasts, admirers, and weavers of all ages!
Our programming for the day includes a number of hands-on demonstrations and discussions.

- Watch a Japanese Paper Cord weaving demonstration.
- Select and shape never before seen market baskets from Ghana.
- View a special display of baskets from around the world, from the former collection of Arizona State University.
- Learn about the National Basketry Organization from former President and Founder/Owner of Fiber Arts on 4th, Cael Chappell.
- Hear about our growing Basketry Library at Fiber Arts on 4th.
- Bring your basket weaving projects and work on them in our workshop space.

About Basketry: Basket weaving is a universal art form found around the globe and is a foundation of civilization dating back at least 25,000 years. Around 12,000 years ago, simple loom weaving derived from basket weaving and transformed humanity by making clothing and other useful and beautiful objects more accessible to more people.
