Rock Wrapping

Japanese Rock Wrapping (or tsutsumu) is an art form symbolizing peace and protection. In this workshop, you will learn three basic knots using a variety of wrapping materials and embellishments to apply this art on three stones. After learning these techniques, let your imagination run wild! Students make 6 to 8 stones per class.
The instructor supplies a kit which includes a gift pouch, needle and 10 additional yards of leather for students to bring home with them to continue this craft.
During the workshop, students have access to a table full of wrapping materials (leather, paper cord, cotton cord and hemp) and assorted embellishments, as well as the supplies to fasten them (including nippers, awls, glue and double sided tape).

any special rocks they may wish to wrap (or they can use one provided by the instructor), a snack, and a drink.

Carrie BottoI started weaving on stones with beads about 30 years ago and it evolved from there. I consider my self a multimedia weaver, using beads, yucca, raffia, paper pine needles and rope to create baskets. I also weave with string to create wall hangings and paper cord to sculpt pieces.
