Twillin’ on Two Heddles
With Liz Gipson
This program is part of Handwork 2026, presented by Craft in America
Where there’s a twill, there’s a way! In this rigid heddle workshop, learn how to weave twill using two heddles to create a scarf fit for fall.
For many rigid heddle weavers, the jump from one to two heddles may feel daunting; however, through the lens of a 1/2 twill we can break down the process and open up a new world of possibilities.
Unlike a balanced plain weave, 1/2 twill creates a distinct “face” and “back” to your fabric, offering a supple drape and playful color effects.
Designed to demystify the multi-heddle process, this workshop will give you the confidence to move beyond a single heddle.
Appropriate for an adventurous beginner. Students should be comfortable with the direct warping method and have woven a couple of projects using a single heddle.
Two-Day Workshop
Day 1 – Saturday, October 10
Day 2 – Sunday, October 11
