The following are physical and mental eligibility criteria for all participants of Fiber Arts on 4th workshops, programming, and excursions. Notify Fiber Arts on 4th of reasonable accommodations upon registering for a workshop. Fiber Arts on 4th will make every effort to accommodate you. If it is not possible to provide the appropriate accommodations when we are notified upon registration, we will provide a refund. If you require a designated companion to assist you with the workshop, they should also register for the workshop.
For all programming, you must:
- Be age 18 years or older or, if not 18+, accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the programming.
- Be able to participate in a multi-hour workshop. Some workshops may require moderate or even rigorous physical activity; please contact us if you have questions.
- Be able to remain adequately fed, hydrated, relieved, and appropriately take all personal medications, including dosing and administration, independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.
- Have sufficient strength to safely handle tools and equipment, including but not limited to pots with boiling liquid, scissors, heavy objects, etc., that could cause injury if not properly handled.
- Have the manual dexterity to manipulate fine, small objects and materials, use scissors, and hold or manipulate tools (e.g. needles for felting, sewing, tapestry or otherwise) independently.
- Have sufficient vision to be able to see and understand instructions by an instructor independently, with the aid of your own sight magnification, or with the assistance of a designated companion.
- Be able to follow and understand both verbal and non-verbal instructions given by instructors independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.
- Be able to participate and learn in a group setting without negatively impacting or jeopardizing the health or safety of oneself, the other students or the instructor(s).
- Be able to maintain your own safety in an environment where allergen exposure and cross-contamination may occur.
The above criteria, if not met, will disqualify a person from participating in activities offered by Fiber Arts on 4th. The criteria exist for your own safety and that of all workshop participants. None of the criteria are meant to discriminate based on any physical or mental disability, and are applied uniformly to all potential workshop participants, irrespective of the presence or absence of any disability. Fiber Arts on 4th is committed to making reasonable modifications to any workshop for any persons with a disability, so long as they do not fundamentally alter the nature of the activities offered.
